Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the Lay Farm Manager in overseeing safe, efficient, and productive poultry farm operations.
  • Learn established farm operations and management practices by working alongside the outgoing Farm Supervisor during the transition period.
  • Monitor conditions and priorities across multiple farms and respond appropriately to changing operational needs.
  • Serve as a resource and point of contact for farm employees when questions, problems, or unexpected situations arise.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving poultry care, equipment, staffing, sanitation, farm conditions, and daily operations.

  • Oversee the safe and effective use of farm machinery and equipment.
  • Help ensure proper care of poultry, including recognizing and responding to signs of illness, injury, or other concerns.
  • Promote and enforce company expectations related to safety, animal welfare, biosecurity, sanitation, attendance, and workplace conduct.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and prepare reports related to staffing, attendance, supplies, production, poultry growth, and other farm activities.
  • Communicate farm needs, emerging concerns, and recommended solutions to the Lay Farm Manager.
  • Assist other farms and departments when operational needs require additional support.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule and respond to farm emergencies outside normal working hours as needed.
  • Perform other duties necessary to support successful farm operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Business, or a related field, or at least five years of relevant poultry experience.
  • Experience with poultry breeder operations strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of poultry care, vaccination, farm cleanouts, sanitation, biosecurity, and farm operations.
  • Experience troubleshooting farm equipment, operational issues, and basic farm or vehicle maintenance needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Ability to assess multiple needs, establish priorities, and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, practical, and solution-focused when responding to problems or emergencies.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while remaining team oriented.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete work accurately and efficiently.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility, follow through on commitments, and work toward individual, departmental, and company goals.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other business systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between farm locations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and after-hours emergency response as operational needs require.
